Assemblies at Thames View
Assemblies are an important part of life at Thames View Primary. They provide opportunities for children to come together as a school community, celebrate success and reflect on the values and expectations that help us to be the best we can be.
Each week, our Celebration Assemblies recognise the achievements and efforts of children across the school. KS1 and KS2 have separate assemblies, allowing the content and celebrations to be appropriate for each age group.
Children receive certificates for achievement and progress in Reading, Writing and Maths, as well as our Star of the Week award for children who have demonstrated our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. We also celebrate participation and achievement in PE, including sporting performance and excellent PE kit, as well as class attendance.
In Years 3 and 4, we recognise children who have achieved excellent results through Times Table Rock Stars, celebrating both achievement and the commitment that children show to developing their mathematical fluency.
Throughout the year, we also hold special assemblies linked to important events and experiences, including Christmas, Remembrance Day, World Book Day and Enterprise Week. These give children opportunities to learn, reflect, perform and celebrate together.
Our assemblies are positive and purposeful occasions. They help children to recognise their own achievements and those of others, develop confidence and pride in their school community and understand that effort, kindness, responsibility and resilience are all worthy of celebration.
Assemblies usually begin and end with music, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere and marking assemblies as a special part of the school week.
